F.A.Q.

Q.

Are those rooms in the photo galleries really furnished on the cheap?

A.

Absolutely. And you can make yours look just as good.

In fact, after many years working as a professional decorator, I've found that the warmest and most interesting homes are usually the ones where a limited budget forced the owners to get creative. That's so much better, and so much more personal, than whipping out a credit card and duplicating a catalog page or store display.

Q.

When you say I can furnish my home inexpensively, how much money do you mean?

A.

It depends. Inexpensive is a relative term. It may mean paying $300 for an antique table worth $3000. It may mean paying $30 for a table you can refinish or paint yourself. You can do it no matter how small your budget.

Q.

Why don't I ever find good stuff like that when I go to flea markets and yard sales?

A.

You will if you keep going. Nobody scores every single time. There's a reason it's called the thrill of the hunt. But, you can increase your odds by following these tips.

Q.

What if I discover I don't like something after I get it home? Flea markets and yard sales don't have a return policy.

A.

It happens to all of us sometimes. That's why it's so great that the prices are low. Just sell it. Put it in your next yard sale, or list it on eBay or Craigslist.
