Were you led inside blindfolded, you’d never guess Memphis Interior Decorator Wayne Shielly’s house is newish construction set smack dab in the suburbs. That’s particularly true of his bedroom.
Inspired by the interiors of Marie Antoinette's Petit Trianon and the various residences of the British Royal Family -- and by legendary designers Sister Parish and Mark Hampton -- Wayne filled his bedroom with European antiques dating from the 18th century to the 1940s.
Wayne bought some of his treasures at fine antique stores, but just as many came from estate sales, consignment shops, and auctions -- even thrift stores. In recent years, he’s developed quite a Goodwill habit.
Step inside the bedroom, a refined space fit for any monarch. Wayne even has his own collection of crowns.
